RESPECTFUL EMPLOYER CERTIFICATION
The independent standard your stakeholders can trust.
Why This Matters Now
Respect is one of the few values people across today’s polarized world can agree on. Employees, customers, and investors all want to know which organizations live this value. Until now, there hasn’t been a credible, independent way to prove it.
The Solution
Respectful Employer Certification provides a rigorous, apolitical, transparent process that validates respect through documented evidence—not sentiment surveys or marketing claims.
What Makes Us Different
- Developed by HR executives and employment lawyers.
- Evidence-based: 30 carefully designed criteria. Companies choose 16 that best reflect their strengths.
- Six areas of measurement: Trust and Transparency, Fueling Potential, Workplace Foundation, Fair Systems and Accountability, Dignity in Difficult Moments, and Leading with Excellence.
- Multiple pathways: flexible scoring acknowledges different ways to demonstrate respect.
- Transparent scoring: clear, auditable, and fair. Based on the evidence you provide.
- Practical process: guided review of your organization’s policies and practices, involving HR and in-house counsel.
- Risk-managed: if you don’t qualify, results stay confidential, and you get an opportunity to improve.

Our Approach
Creating a truly inclusive environment requires more than passive observation; it demands a proactive approach to workplace dynamics. Our bystander intervention training emphasizes early intervention, real-world scenarios, and values-driven messaging to inspire meaningful behavior change—not just standard legal compliance. We move beyond theory to provide your employees with a clear roadmap for navigating complex interpersonal situations.
Designed by a premier team of legal and conflict resolution experts, our program equips teams with practical tools to build psychological safety and strengthen professional collaboration. By implementing our bystander intervention training, your organization ensures it meets rigorous legal requirements across all 50 states while fostering a culture of mutual respect and accountability.
We understand that every organization has unique challenges. Our curriculum is tailored to address the nuances of modern office dynamics, ensuring that every participant leaves with the confidence to act when it matters most. This shift from “bystander” to “upstander” is the key to reducing liability and increasing employee retention.
Let’s talk about how this specialized training can help elevate your organization’s culture, protect your people, and maximize your long-term impact.

We specialize in crafting tailored HR strategies and employee benefits that prioritize humanity at every level of your organization. By blending empathy with innovation, we help you transform workplace culture into a space where individuals feel valued, heard, and inspired to contribute their best. In today’s tight talent market, candidates and employees have more choices than ever. For HR professionals striving to elevate their company culture and attract top talent, The Respectful Employer offers a fresh perspective on employee engagement and retention. When something in your workplace just doesn’t feel right — teams lose their rhythm, meetings feel flat, boundaries blur, or collaboration starts to stagnate — an organization doesn’t need a new policy, it needs a diagnostic. At The Respectful Employer, we partner with HR and leadership teams to conduct a holistic effectiveness assessment of your team dynamics, workflows, communication patterns, culture, and organizational norms. We go beyond the surface to identify the hidden tension points, structural misalignments, and cultural signals that undercut performance and morale. By delivering clear, domain-based insights and an actionable roadmap, we help you restore clarity, trust, and operational flow — before problems become crises and key talent begins to walk away.
With The Respectful Employer by your side, you can champion a workplace culture that not only boosts morale and productivity but also builds a reputation as a standout employer. Our human-first approach fosters genuine connections and loyalty within your workforce, ensuring that when applicants weigh their options or when existing employees receive calls from competitors, your organization stands out as a place where they can thrive. Together, we can build a respectful, resilient, and innovative organization where employees are not just resources but vital, valued contributors to your success.

Workplace Investigations
An internal complaint is an expression of trust. It shows that the employee believes in the organization’s integrity. It also provides the employer with an invaluable opportunity to evaluate — and if needed, remediate — behavioral or communication challenges that may be damaging internal culture before they escalate publicly. Honor that outreach with a response that is both thorough and impartial.
A neutral investigator is essential to this process. They bring objectivity, avoiding unintentional bias, preconceived notions and conflicts of interest. Cultural competency is also critical. A deep appreciation of the role that culture can play in creating interpersonal conflict or misunderstanding is an important component of determining the root cause of the concern. If the allegations are unsubstantiated, a neutral and culturally aware approach maximizes the likelihood of acceptance of the results by all stakeholders including the reporter. If the allegations are substantiated, it creates a strong basis for subsequent employment action that is both thoughtful and defensible.
Many entities provide investigation services. We are different.
We are seasoned employment lawyers with extensive internal investigations experience, having managed over a thousand investigations arising in a variety of workplace settings from the manufacturing floor to the C-suite. We’ve managed investigations into a wide range of issues, from harassment and discrimination to fraud and conflict of interest to compliance matters, across the United States as well as in Canada and Mexico.
At The Respectful Employer, we also appreciate that the matter does not end with the issuance of the report. There may be an employment action to be taken, internal conflict to be addressed, or trust to be regained before the business unit can move on. In light of these objectives, the manner in which the investigation proceeds is critical. Let us help you determine what happened in a way that is fair, thorough, and effective.
To ensure privilege, the investigations will be conducted by the Law Office of Jane Howard-Martin.
